Default Annoying the hell out of me

Annoying bots spamming "BUY GOLD HERE AT WWW.IMANASSWIPERMT.COM BEST PRICE BLAH BLAH". You /report them, but they simply log out, make a new spambot with a similar name, and continue. /report is largely toothless.

Bots who actually PM you to pester you. Really. I was out in the Crystal Desert, dealing with some annoying Scarabs, when all of a sudden I get this message saying something to the effect of what I stated earlier in this post. In PM. WTF?

Bots who log onto forums and hawk their wares, unwelcomed and unwanted. And some of them have the audacity to attach a or a to the topic. Smug little *******.

Seriously, why the hell hasn't A.net found a way to kill them off? Help me understand, because right now I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around this crap.

ANet can't make GW2 and ban thousands of bots at the same time, duh.

I think that there are just too many to ban like that.I mean, i assume they have to do check ups first before banning to be sure that they are banning a bot and not just some guy with too much free time.If Anet did decide to just ban everyone that was reported, the forums would be filled with people going "I wasnt spamming!!!!N00b Anet gimme my account back!!!!"

Just what i think anyway...

Bots don't PM you.

Been there done that. RunEscape is bad, yes. But RunEscape is a piece of crap game run by crappy people, unlike Guild Wars.

Zoned into the Great Temple of Balthazar yesterday, Bot city. Everyone was yelling about buying gold here and there... couldn't report them all so I just QQ'ed and left. But yes it is annoying, I have gotten some of those PM's as well.

He was not a human. He was a trained monkey.

It's nearly always in the Great Temple, thank god for the option to toggle local chat on and off.

I disagree; the timing is much too precise to be controlled by a person.

The last time I received one of these spam whispers, my alliance chat was immediately ablaze with anger and dismay. There were at least a dozen recipients of the same message within a window of ten seconds, if not instantaneously.

So, you believe a software program (definition of BOT) can pick out a player name and send them a PM? Interesting.

Well, I'm sure bots can message people, just cycle through people with tab, Ctrl+Enter on their name, and pm away.

it's really getting annoying. but, that's life. at least when I'm in the shopping mart I don't have everyone screaming about their items.

A while ago I pm'ed Gaile suggesting an additional option to the /report feature for gold sellers, she said she would suggest it to the devs but nothing appears to have happened so far.

Brianna has it right...bots can do keypresses, and ANet made it real easy to pm people with only keypresses.

Highlight a person, (tab or click), press ctrl + enter, and their name is automatically set to pm.

Why don't you all just ignore them? I don't see how it's a problem.

QFT. ;P

I wish they would expand that. I would have way more than 10 with all the annoying people in game and the bot PMs. Besides even if you put one of ignore they usually have a different account later and you end up with a different bot sending messages next time you go thru a "gold sales" town which they are spreading out into more and more towns.
